Brass is a versatile material and it is perfect for many different uses, among which for producing gas fittings. These items, which are usually indicated as generic fittings, in the majority of cases are produced starting from coarse material that is hot forged and subsequently processed by transfer machines.

gas fittings have threaded ends, according to the EN 10266 Standard, which recently replaced ISO 7 regarding threads for gas with thread sealing surface. The female thread of the fittings is cylindrical and couples with pipes having a 1:16 conic thread. The thread is triangular with a 55° opening, and the pitch and crest are connected identically to favour sealing.
Gas fittings, however, also need a sealant to be applied between the threads, otherwise leaks can occur which, in the case of combustible material, can lead to catastrophic situations. The material used must be chosen considering its compatibility, first of all with the fluid in the system, then with the working temperature and finally according to its contact with the metal, to prevent creating dangerous corrosion.
